Team Plasma Appears! The Great Sandile Conspiracy?!

Sarah, Jimmy and Oshawott had once again made it to Flocessy Town, and nearby was Flocessy Ranch. Both young Trainers had decided to take a breather from walking in the local park, where the old clock tower stood.
“So, how did you and Klin meet?” Sarah asked, Jimmy’s twin gear Pokémon had proven itself to be formidable in battle against Oshawott, though both were playing amicably in the grass, close enough to be watched.
“Oh it’s no exciting story or anything,” said Jimmy, waving his arms gently, as if warding off the idea, “my Dad caught my Klink for me at Chargestone Cave.  We’ve been together ever since.”
“That’s pretty cool,” nodded Sarah, “so where are you from originally?”

As they continued to chatter about themselves, Klink and Oshawott were hiding from each other in the grass. Riolu was a few feet away, meditating quietly.
“Osha...” Oshawott stood with both paws over it’s eyes, “Osha... Osha... Osha... WOTT! Oshawott-wott!”
Turning around excitedly it began peeking through the clumps of tall grass. It hadn’t been looking for long when it found itself staring at a small brown tail;
“Oshawott?” pausing to think Oshawott knew hat Klink was made of two gears that spun round each other, no tail that it had seen so far. It also knew that Riolu had a blue tail, and if Oshawott turned it’s head like so it could see Riolu, still stood on the same old tree stump. That one needed to relax, thought Oshawott, turning back to the brown tail.
“Osha?”
“Dile?”

“OSHAWOOOOOOTT!”
Sarah and Jimmy jumped up, Klink peeking out from the bushes it had been hiding behind, Riolu turning to look quietly.
“What’s wrong Oshawott?” asked Sarah, then stopped when she realised that Oshawott, having run over to her, had found a small brown crocodile. It watched Sarah with it’s black eyes.
“That’s a Sandile,” said Jimmy.
Sarah’s Pokedex beeped as she used the scan function to look up Sandile’s data;
Sandile, the Desert Croc Pokémon. Sandile prefers to keep it’s body warm, and thus spends it’s life buried in sand. A dark membrane over this Pokémon’s eyes prevents it from being blinded by sunlight.” read the computerised voice
“Ah, it says here Sandile’s a Dark and Ground type,” noted Sarah, reading the data displayed below the image.
“But wild Sandile pretty much never leave the desert,” said Jimmy, “so this one is either owned by a trainer, or incredibly far away from home.”
Sandile moved forward slowly, it’s tail seemed a bit crooked and there were scratch marks here and there.
“Are you hurt?” asked Sarah, moving forward.
“Sandile?” Sandile looked pretty beat, almost like it had been in a fight or accidents recently.
“There you are!”
Sarah and Jimmy turned to see a man in a black uniform running up, with grey sleeves and a blue badge, the beret on his head matched the colour of his uniform, he also looked angry.
“Stupid Pokémon! You don’t run off from me!” he shouted.
Sandile took one look at the man and turned, trying to limp away from him.
“Oh no you don’t!” he shouted, charging through the camp, knocking Oshawott over as he ran.
“HEY!” called Sarah after the man, “watch where you’re going!”
“Screw you,” the man shouted back, turning away from her he swore loudly, “damnit, you can’t dig away forever you stupid little twit!”
“No wonder Sandile’s running, I’d run if I had a Trainer like that,” said Jimmy as the man vanished from sight into the town, “what a horrible person.”
“Yeah,” Sarah picked the stunned but otherwise OK Oshawott up, “glad he didn’t step on you. What a jerk.”

Later on at the local Pokémon Centre, Sarah and Jimmy were sat at a table, enjoying a simple lunch. Oshawott was sat with a bowl of Pokémon food whilst Klink simply passed the time by floating above them all aimlessly.
“You know, it’s really none of my business, but I’m kinda worried about that Sandile,” said Sarah quietly, “I mean, it really seemed like Sandile didn’t want to go back to him at all.”
“I know what you mean,” nodded Jimmy, “I wonder if the man had beaten Sandile, that would explain why it looked so roughed up.”
“A Sandile?” a young woman, dressed in simplistic clothes, had been walking past their table, but had stopped to speak with them, “did I hear you correctly, that there was a Sandile being chased by someone?”
“Uh...” Jimmy paused, both he and Sarah shared a look before looking back at her, “who are you?”
“Oh, excuse me,” the woman shook her head, “I’m currently in the middle of an investigation into a local terrorist group. My name’s Hayley.”
“I’m Sarah,” she nodded at Jimmy, “Oshawott here is my partner. And this is Jimmy.”
“Yeah, I’m researching into Unova’s myths and legends,” nodded Jimmy, “this here is my Klink.”
“Pleased to meet you,” smiled Hayley, shaking their hands, “now, tell me more about this Sandile. What kind of man was he?”

They described how nasty the man had seemed, Hayley seemed very interested to hear what the man looked like in particular.
“I had a feeling it would be them,” muttered Hayley, her face darkening.
“Them?” repeated Sarah.
“Did you ever hear of Team Plasma?” Hayley asked them, “They were a pretty violent group of terrorists who tried to separate Pokémon and humanity from each other. But in reality most of the group simply wanted to take control of the Unova Region.”
“I’d heard of Team Plasma,” nodded Jimmy, “but they were disbanded weren’t they?”
“Actually yes,” nodded Hayley, “in fact the one who defeated their leader was Scarlett, the current Unova Champion.”
“My sister?!” squeaked Sarah.
“You’re Scarlett’s sister?” Hayley looked at her sharply, “I’ve battled her before. She totally crushed me,” the look softened, “you actually kinda look similar.”
“Kinda?” mused Sarah.
“By the way,” said jimmy, “why are you investigating Team Plasma? If they were disbanded then there’s no reason to hunt for them is there?”
“Ah yes,” Hayley looked solemn, “we believe that some members of Team Plasma never disbanded and are still active. Some undercover agents have suggested they’ve been hunting Pokémon like Sandile for some kind of sinister plot.”
Sarah tilted her head, “Sandile don’t seem a particularly strong type of Pokémon.
“They’re Ground-type Pokémon,” said Jimmy, “which means that they’re very good at digging holes and creating tunnels. But it’d take a whole group to pull of anything large scale.”
“That’s what worries me,” said Hayley, “I had heard that several members of Team Plasma have been seen around here. This small town doesn’t really have the defences for any kind of operation they might have planned.”
“Well,” Sarah stood, “we won’t find anything just sat around. Let’s go investigate!”
“And where do you propose we start?” asked Jimmy, “not to throw a wrench in the works, but the only clues we have are that whatever they’re planning involves Sandile.”
“We could start by looking for a Sandile,” said Hayley, “if we have at least one Ground-type on our team we might stand a better chance of figuring out what’s going on.”
It wasn’t much to go on, but the three Trainers agreed to head out and meet back within the hour.

One hour later the three were stood in front of the Pokémon Centre.
“No luck for you guys either?” Hayley asked.
“Nothing,” shrugged Sarah.
“Well, we didn’t find a Sandile as such, but we did find this,” Jimmy held up a small green oval shaped thing.
“Ohmygosh, is that an Egg?!” squeaked Sarah.
“Where did you find that?” gasped Hayley.
“It was in the forest, we were hunting for ground Pokémon and found this, just sat there,” Jimmy grinned, “I wonder what kind of Pokémon will be inside. No way to know until it’s hatched though.”
“Well, someone’s lucky, but that hardly helps us,” Hayley looked up at the Pokémon Centre, “if only they’d do something and make their move. So far they’ve not so much as knocked a tree over. I wonder if I was mistaken-“
RUMBLERUMBLERUMBLERUMBLERUMBLE
“W-w-what’s happening?” shouted Sarah.
“The ground’s shaking?!” called Jimmy.
Indeed, the ground trembled beneath their feet. The sounds of shouts could be heard as everyone able to move was running from the Pokémon Centre.
Cracks began to form under the ground around the centre, the ground heaved as shouts could be heard. The centre seemed to LURCH and sink as though in quicksand. The three suddenly realised; it was sinking!!
“We’ve gotta do something!” shouted Sarah.
Crumble...
The land under Sarah’s feet slid away, and she began to slide down into the pit! As she fell, Jimmy and Hayley could hear a looooong shriek. Followed by a thud.
“This is definitely Team Plasma,” shouted Hayley.
“What do we do now?” asked Jimmy, “how do we get them back up?”
“Let’s see what’s going on down there before we try and work that out...”
Hayley pulled a Pokeball from her bag, “alright, go Jigglypuff!”

Sarah looked around in the darkened pit, the Pokémon Centre still stood though most of the windows had shattered.
“Is everyone ok?” she called, forcing the busted door open with her arms, she pushes her way in.
“Oh, Sarah...” the nurse was bleeding from a wound on her head, “what just happened? One thing we’re fine the next everything’s gone dark!”
“Nurse!” Sarah called as she collapsed, “oh my gosh!”
She caught the young woman; Sarah had just enough time to pull Riolu’s Pokeball out;
“Riolu, help me out!”

With the young Fighting-type’s help, Sarah had the Nurse laid across the couch, then looked around.
“So now we’re somehow underground?” muttered Sarah, she covered her eyes as something bright was shone into her face.
“Alright girly,” the man in black from before was walking towards her, “hand over the Pokémon and nobody gets hurt.”
Sarah was surrounded, not just more of the men in black, but several Sandile, Woobat and Grimer as well.

Next time: The Sunk Pokémon Centre! Sandile’s tortured soul!
We meet a new character and the threat of Team Plasma rears it's ugly head.
