So I've been enjoying the new revelations so far, decided I'd share my thoughts on the Pokemon and other reveals.

New Pokemon

Starter Pokemon

Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie

The three starters look kinda bland to me; but then all starters are basically colorful animals aren't they? How the hell does Fennekin learn "Glow Punch"? And what type is it? If Fennekin becomes fire/Fighting then there are going to be hundreds upon thousands of angry, hateful Pokemon fans. Fire/Psychic would be amazing but Fire/Fairy would be even better.

Chespin is just gonna stay a Grass type isn't it? Grass-type starters are kinda bland to me now. after Bulbasaur was Chikorita, which was basically Bulbasaur minus Vine Whip and Poison Powder. Then Treecko came along and was pretty badass. Turtwig mixed things up with it's part-Ground final form; Torterra is awesome. Snivy is such a cool lil guy... it's a shame that Snivy's final form is such a dull pure-Grass type. And I like Grass types too. Chespin's got some ground to cover.

Apart from Totodile I've never been fussed about Water-type starters... Or water-types in general. I might pick Froakie this time around so I don't have to worry about catching something else. He looks cool, let's hope he gets to be even cooler.

Fairy-type Pokemon

Until we get to next month we won't know how Fairy-types stack up against other types (bar Dragon of course) so I'm more then happy to take a stab at guessing. We already know Fairy will be super-effective VS Dragons.

If Fairy is meant to introduce more balance then it will presumably be weak to a couple of types that don't see a lot of use; Poison, Steel and Grass are the ones I'm thinking of. Alternatively Ghost or Bug.

It'll resist a few of the more common attack types, such as Dragon (obviously), Ice and Ground.

It'll be super-effective VS Dragon, Fighting and possibly something else. Gonna guess Dark.

I also believe it won't be very effective VS Steel, Water, Fire and Psychic types.

As for actual Fairy-type Pokemon, why is Jigglypuff a Fairy but CleFAIRY isn't? Of course, the idea of Jigglypuff totally stomping on Rayquaza's face is hilarious.

"I am the Original Dragon that created Unova."
"Go jigglypuff!"
"OH FUCK!"

And I kinda like the idea of Gardevoir being a Fairy-type, as a parallel to Gallade's Fighting type. Makes Gardevoir seem more like a high-fantasy elf, or a stage magician's assitant... or maybe some kind of white witch? I dunno. Marill seems a bit of an odd choice; what about Marill is even remotely Fairy-like?

Sylveon is the "new Eeveelution" to introduce a new type thing. I don't care for it myself but whatever floats your boat.

Mawile's change to Fairy will make it a perfect Dragon Slayer Pokemon, or at least, it's Mega Form will. See below.

Flabébé is currently my favourite of the Fairy-types; I already decided I'm going to train one. I just hope it isn't like with Chatot where it was revealed early in the Generation but then they put it in one of the final routes of the game. Bastards.

Swirlix is really freaking cool, whilst Spritzee is cute but kinda creepy. It's a plague-doctor-flamingo. Keep it away from me!!

Xerneas is awesome; a deer with sword-legs and a powerful Fairy-type moves? Sold! I still prefer Yveltal.

Is that all of 'em? Oh no wait. Dedenne - the Pikachu-Fairy. I don't care for it but I will say this; it's better then retconning Pikachu into an Electric/Fairy type. Though I'm curious as to how the anime would explain THAT one.

Back to normal new Pokemon

Pancham and Pangoro look awesome; is it just me or is Pangoro's fur similar to the jacket Cynthia wears in D/P/Pt? Dark/Fighting worked well for Scrafty, a more offensive version can't be bad. Right?

Fletchling and Talonflame look amazing; a cute lil robin becomes a terrifying hawk with flame powers? Where do I sign up?!

Skiddo and Gogoat are currently my fave Grass-types this generation. I seriously, SERIOUSLY hope you can ride them anywhere. There's something about riding Pokemon in the games that just reeks of pure awesome. Forget Chespin, I'm gonna catch a Skiddo! (That's unless my beloved Lilligant gets retconned into being Grass/Fairy; then I'm all over that shit)

Helioptile has a weird name but it's such a cool looking lil guy. His evolutions are gonna be amazing, you can tell.

Scatterbug, Spewpa and Vivillion are... crap. Sorry but I really think a Burmy mated with a Weedle at some point. Keep it away from me.

Noivern is a new Dragon - shame it arrived the same Gen as Fairies or else it'd be an amazing addition. Still, a sound-based Dragon-type sounds neat. Let's hope we get to see it with a proper Dragon Roar move.

Clauncher and Skrelp are two new Water-types. Clauncher looks awesome (rumour has it it'll evolve into a badass Electric/Water type. That would be AWESOME) but Skrelp kinda makes me think "the new Tentacool... oh joy". If I get Froakie then there is no problem of course.

Litleo is a really cute lil guy but unless he evolves into something amazing (or another awesome Fire-type comes out) I'll be sticking with Talonflame. Fire Lion is an awesome idea.

Honedge actually looks crazy awesome. A Sword Pokemon? If this gets a move like "Stab" or "Sword Strike" then I will be officially impressed; why has there never been a Metal Slash move? Or a Metal Punch for that matter? (Bullet punch does SO not count)

Inkay and Malimar have their work cut out for them. Psychic/Dark is a typing with more curses then blessings. It has an immunity to Psychic, a double weakness to bug and no resistances. So if you're opponent's a Psychic-type with no bug moves then Malimar will be a bit of a nightmare for you. But if their stats are all like "66 Def and 72 Sp.Def is awesome" then they'll be relegated to the lowest tier Smogon can find.

Just a note on my stance on tiers; I don't like the idea of tiering Pokemon to begin with but I'm aware that some Pokemon are just better then others. A game with over 700 unique characters is impossible to balance after all. Infernape is better then Charizard, I get it. But in a round-about way I also don't care. If I can win with a Pokemon I like what's the problem? It's a freaking game.

Oorotto is a Tree Pokemon. Until the official reveal I'm staying silent on my thoughts for it.

Bunnelby seems to be this gen's Bidoof/Rattata/Sentret substitute. This one is almost certainly gonna evolve into a Ground/Normal type though, so it's nice that game Freak is at least trying to mix it up a bit. If it's any good in battle too then that will be a bonus.

Legendary Pokemon and predictions

Notice how we haven't had a reveal for the new Pixie? I only really started going on Serebii when Gen III was being unveiled so I only have Generations form there to start with. Gen III's Pixie was Jirachi but I don't recall it being introduced before the games were released, I might be wrong on this but I have few references to aid me.

Gen IV's Pixie was either Manaphy or Shaymin, depending on your definition of "Pokémon Pixie". If your definition is a Pokémon that has 100 in all of it's stats then technically they both fit the bill. REGARDLESS, Manaphy was revealed waaay before the release of Diamond and Pearl, it was even featured in a movie for crying out loud. Victini was similarly featured at the end of Zoroark: Master of Illusions, again a while before Black and White came out.

So what would this Generation's pixie look like?

I might try designing it but I'd be surprised to the nth degree if it wasn't a Fairy/Steel, Fairy/Dragon or just a Fairy type altogether. Having said that, we didn't have a Steel Legendary til Ruby/Sapphire and we didn't have a Dark-type Legendary til Diamond/Pearl. So who knows? I'd put money on Steel/Fairy though.

The Legendary Trio (if there is one) this Generation will be unusual. I've heard rumours of Dark/Electric Pokémon, so if this comes true I'll be intrigued if nothing else. Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus may have shared designs for the most part but at least they had good types; Tornadus is still the only pure-Flying type!

Yveltal and Xerneas are freaking awesome. I've explained Xerneas already, Yveltal is so freaking badass I'm gonna die! I mean, he's literally the DESTRUCTION Pokémon; it's a Legendary with Gyarados' personality! AND IT FLIES! It has a move called OBLIVION WING! For once Nintendo's translation team actually gave it a move that sounds as badass in English as it does in Japanese! I'm looking at you "Flame Charge".

Mega Evolution

A few Pokémon have had a new set of forms revealed called Mega Evolutions, which seem to act similarly to Giratina's Origin Forme. You give the Pokémon a Mega Stone to hold and at the start of battle and it transforms into it's Mega form. If a Pokémon has the item removed it won't transform, it also changes back at the end of battle. Ok.

What intrigues me is that it seems, potentially, ANY Pokémon is able to do this, so long as they have the specific Mega Stone to do so. I've been given the impression that Mega Stones are the "class" of item; so far Blazikenite and Lucarionite have both been confirmed as types of Mega Stone. The Pokémon that have been revealed to Mega Evolve include Mewtwo (the Awakened Form), Lucario, Mawile, Ampharos, Blaziken and Absol. If you're a fan of these Pokémon then obviously the increased stats and new Abilities the Mega Evolution bestows is presumably good news. What I like is that some Pokémon gain a new type as well, Amphraos becomes a Dragon/Electric type for example, which as some will tell you is just plain awesome. News is they'll be revealing some more next month too. I personally hope that Klinklang, Dunsparce, Charizard, all the old favourites get brilliant new Mega Forms. I like that it seems that this is coming as a new feature for Starters and Legendaries as well as generic Pokémon. The only requirement from what I can tell is that the Pokémon does not evolve any further by normal methods.

Of the six revealed I'm only really annoyed by MegaMewtwo. I still think the design's stupid, it only vaguely resembles Mewtwo. I'm quite taken with MegaMawile and MegaAmpharos, MegaLucario seems to have Giratina-O's wings(?) growing out of it's back. After the incident of Speed Boost Blaziken, which me and Sarah both agreed never to mention again, I'm quite adamant that Blaziken is going to outshine Infernape this generation. Everyone's gonna be like, "what? What's an Infernape?"

So here's hoping that at least one of my favourite Pokémon gets a Mega Evolution. Pokémon like Keckleon, Klinklang, Dunsparce, Charizard, Blastoise, Sableye, Pinsir... and probably a ton more. Fingers crossed!!

I wouldn't say Burmy mated with a Weedle...I'd say it mated with a Caterpie xDD
